Stonegrip rejuvenates seafront gardens

Stonegrip decorative surfacing, from road safety products manufacturer Ennis Prismo Traffic Safety Solutions, is helping to transform the Marine Gardens in Fleetwood, UK.

The £1m waterfront regeneration project introduces landscaping in the style of a contemporary English marine garden. New features include a dramatic outdoor performance area, which aims to establish Fleetwood’s Marine Hall as a key venue for entertainment and performance.

Stonegrip is being used by specialist applicator, Coatech Ltd, to provide a uniform, weed-free, attractive gravel surface finish across all the pathways in the Gardens. This equates to a total area of approximately 1,000m2.

Stonegrip comprises an epoxy resin binder on to which a choice of aggregate is applied. The epoxy resin provides a permanent bond to the substrate and can be pigmented to complement the selected decorative aggregate dressing. The aggregates are available in a variety of colours, sizes and textures including amber, white and rose pink flint; orange and dark blue collux; and golden quartz, westbere and golden pea gravel.

Stonegrip provides an attractive, well textured surface, with a high level of slip resistance and is the ideal material for footpaths, bridle-paths, driveways, pedestrian precincts, heritage and conservation areas, landscaping schemes and car parks. It is perfect for urban regeneration projects such as the Marine Gardens.

Stonegrip is easy to apply and highly versatile. It can be applied to a range of surfaces including asphalt and concrete. The surface must first be cleared of debris then the area to be covered taped out. The hardening agent is simply added to the resin and mixed thoroughly, before being spread over the relevant area. The chosen aggregate is then cast over the resin mix and left to set. Any excess aggregate is swept away and the tape removed. The resulting finish is extremely durable and easy to maintain
