Zaun handrail meets new FA regulations

New FA regulations have brought to the fore a new handrail from Zaun Limited, the UK's leading steel mesh fencing manufacturer and installer.

Zaun has supplied and installed spectator rail mesh fencing to Crawley Down Gatwick Football Club following their promotion in 2011, which meant they had to complete various ground improvements by 31 March 2012 or face automatic relegation at the season's end.

'The Anvils', whose first team play in the Ryman Isthmian League Division One South, turned to Zaun to help them meet the new regulations, which included the installation of a rigid mesh fence with a spectator handrail around the perimeter of the pitch.

Zaun had to adapt its product during the complex installation to maintain the 1.1m height around the whole pitch as ground levels changed.

Crawley Down chairman Brian Suckling said: 'We were delighted to find Zaun to bring our ground up to scratch and they did a super job under very tight deadlines.'

Zaun is one of the most dynamic manufacturers of perimeter protection systems within the UK, with one of the broadest ranges, all covered by an industry-leading 12-year product guarantee.

Zaun was founded in 1995 by directors Alastair Henman and Paul Painter and remains a privately owned company, manufacturing in the UK at its state of the art five-acre production facility in the West Midlands.

Zaun manufactures to ISO 9001:2008 standards and is a member of the ethical supply chain initiative, Sedex. It is also a founder member of the Made in Britain campaign, a member of the Perimeter Security Suppliers' Association, for which Painter is a founding member and director; the Fencing Contractors' Association, for which Henman is a committee member; and the Sports and Play Construction Association.
