S2T Group of North Weald, Essex, supply the specialised PERFO system of ground reinforcement products which can be used for the reinforcement of soft ground and also applications with a granular base. The unique feature of the PERFO range is that it can be compacted directly into either existing grassed areas or prepared surfaces. Other ground reinforcement products generally require excavation and back-filling. Furthermore PERFO is self-anchoring and does not require additional pinning or fixing. The PERFO range consists of securely interlocking PE/PP tiles which have a partially or completely closed surface which significantly improves load distribution, while still preserving natural drainage. The design resists the resurgence of mud during wet conditions.

Applications range from the reinforcement of pathways, tracks and grass areas for overspill parking for which the PERFO-SD standard tiles are particularly suited, to more heavy duty applications. A recent development is the heavy duty PERFO-AK anchor tile. These have a 100% closed top surface and well defined profile for additional traction. Slots in the structure ensure effective drainage is maintained. Large extended integrated anchors in the base of each element provide a particularly strong bond with the bedding layer, whether grass, topsoil or crushed stone. Trench compactors/rammers are used to compact the tiles into the bedding layer/surface, with tandem vibrating rollers (min. 4-5 tonnes) suitable for larger areas. PERFO-AK has proven to be a popular solution for the renovation of worn, pot-holed gravel car parks, providing a tidy, durable, SUDS compliant solution with short installation times. The heavy duty PERFO-AK design also allows the tiles to be installed directly into existing grass surfaces where more frequent traffic is expected, when otherwise a sub-base might be required.
