lawnWild flowers in BBC Charity Garden project

Q Lawns have donated some of their Meadowmat wild flower matting to a BBC Charity Garden in Stratford on Avon that aims to raise money for the charity Greenfingers.

Meadowmat, which contains 34 species of UK native flowering plants and grasses, is laid just like turf and provides a quick and easy way to establish wildlife habitat. In this project, it has been installed close to a pond so that a wide range of insects, mammals and amphibians can benefit from the food and shelter provided by the Meadowmat and from the close proximity to water.

The garden has been designed and built by BBC Gardening presenter Steve Brookes who says “The Greenfingers charity is very close to my heart and builds magical gardens at children's hospices around the UK - a wonderful thing to provide families and their life-limited children much needed quiet spaces for solace.  Donations at our open-days and plants (and hopefully honey from our BBC bees very soon!) that we sell from our BBC Garden here all help to raise much-needed funds”.

Angela Lambert from Q Lawns is pleased to have been invited to help with the project. “This garden is going to have far-reaching effects. Not only will it support local biodiversity in its own right, it will demonstrate to visitors that gardens for wildlife needn’t be huge and they can be attractive. Most importantly, the money raised by this project will be going to a very worthy cause indeed”.
