Makita has a well mapped medium-term plan to grow a significant market share of the grounds care, maintenance and forestry tool business and has launched a brand new range of pedestrian controlled mowers for contractors in good time for the new grass care season. The new mower range compliments the recent surge of popularity in the high performance Makita MM4 mini 4-stroke engine which is fitted in a range of brush cutters, line trimmers, blowers and hedge cutters. The well established and expanding Makita chainsaw range, exclusively used for years by the British army, is breaking sales records and displacing many established brands.

The new Makita petrol engine mowers all feature the latest version, clean exhaust emission, 4-stroke Briggs & Stratton engines which are powerful and environmentally friendly with low noise and low running costs.

The new Makita mower range includes the PLM4631. This 190cc single speed, self-propelled model has a 46cm cutting width and will cut at heights from 75mm down to just 20mm through an 8-step centralised setting and has a 3-position adjustable handle bar system and a 60 litres box. The PLM4631 model has an all steel deck and is supplied with a mulching kit and side discharge chute for larger area management.

Also new to the range is the PLM4622 model which has the same technical features but is fitted with 3-speed transmission and therefore suitable for areas around 1,800m². For grass areas of 2,200m² or bigger the PLM5600 machine has the same 190cc, 3.12hp motor but has a cutting width of 56cm and centralised 8- level cutting height between 20mm and 75mm. This rugged and powerful mower has a 70 litres carry box and is supplied with side discharge mulching kit.
