The route to success with Bollards International

Bollards International’s Cycleway Bollards were recently supplied by the main contractor CA Blackwell Ltd, for Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council’s £2.6 million project creating a series of strategic cycle routes connecting residents of North Solihull with key employment sites in the area.

The scheme, funded jointly through the European Regional Development Fund, managed by the Department for Communities and Local Government and Solihull Council, will develop and enhance existing cycling opportunities in North Solihull by creating an additional 13km of cycle friendly routes.

The new routes will link into cycle improvements created through the recently completed Airport and NEC Integrated Transport Access Scheme, which was funded by the Department for Transport.

Bollards International’s cycleway products met the scheme’s requirements on a number of levels. In terms of performance, the bollards are extremely robust and ideal for eco-conscious customers, as the inner structural core is manufactured from recycled steel.

Furthermore, the bollards are moulded from engineering-grade polyurethane elastomer containing chemicals derived from a renewable source (rapeseed oil) and fillers from recycled materials. The bollard mould itself is also derived from real wood to give an exact wood grain finish.

Ensuring the bollards remain of a consistently high quality, a top-coat of high-performance, two-part polyurethane paint is used. This finish chemically bonds with the PU body eliminating any possibility of paint flake or chipping. It is the best product on the market for long-term durability and weathering resistance.

Bollards International successfully manufactured and delivered a cost-effective, wood lookalike cycleway bollard, suitable for displaying traffic signs and symbols, whilst defining the cycle network in a stylish, environmentally friendly way.
