Sports turf drainage and construction specialist Turfdry (established in 1995) has had its busiest year ever in 2013.

Contracts have been won throughout the country from Cumbria to Cardiff, though most activity has been in and around the M25, including several high value ‘design and build’ sports pitch construction projects featuring the unique ‘Turfdry Drainage System with Hydraway Sportsdrain’, which provides maximum drainage efficiency with minimum installation disturbance.

Following competitive tender, four football pitches have been designed and built on two separate sites in Romford for Havering Borough Council, for whom Turfdry completed a successful bowling green reconstruction project back in 2003, which also incorporated the Turfdry Drainage System. Parks and Open Spaces Manager, Martin Stanton, was very impressed when reviewing the 2013 works: “Both constructions involved extensive cut and fill and the installation of a drainage system that was designed in each case to be fit for purpose. The Turfdry Drainage System has also been recently successfully trialled by the RFU, and increased rugby pitch drainage work is anticipated in 2014 as a result.

Turfdry has well over 50 satisfied golf course clients throughout the UK, for whom the Turfdry Drainage System has been used extensively for fairway, tee and bunker drainage, and to provide a long-term solution to the problem of waterlogged clay-based greens at the fraction of the cost of rebuilding.

Two cricket outfield drainage schemes have also been completed in 2013, so it is easy to see why the company’s slogan is, ‘You name it… we drain it!’.
