Vauxhall launches its first ever four-wheel drive van
Vauxhall, the UK’s number one van manufacturer, is making its first foray into the all-wheel drive commercial vehicle sector with its new Movano 4x4.
A recognised conversion based on the Movano rear-wheel drive, but with higher road clearance and better traction, the Movano 4x4 is ideal for use on snow or in icy conditions, on wet grassland, gravel and steep slopes. It is therefore ideally suited to many grounds maintenance requirements. The conversion, by German firm Oberaigner, can be carried out on any Movano rear-wheel drive model post works, using all original Vauxhall parts and is guaranteed through Vauxhall’s extensive 350 strong dealer network.
The all-wheel drive is controlled via a simple and intuitive interface mounted inside the dashboard. It also features a switchable gear reduction of 1.42 which is perfect for driving a heavily laden van up a steep hill, for example. The conversion adds just 150kg to the weight of the vehicle. All Movano 4x4s are covered by second stage whole vehicle type approval with the conversion covered by Oberaigner for two years or 75,000 miles, whichever comes first.
“We are delighted to add our first ever all-wheel drive van to the Vauxhall range,” said Steve Bryant, Brand Manager, Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles. “Movano customers are spoilt for choice with 34 body styles including core conversions and recognised conversions, available with front wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, twin rear-wheel drive and now all-wheel drive.”
