Jupiter Play helps revive The Royal Parks
Every year millions of Londoners and tourists visit Hyde Park, one of the capital's eight Royal Parks. The South Carriage Drive play ground is very well used but due to its popularity, the play area has become worn in recent months. Jupiter Play was chosen to help improve its future by providing more creative play that would allow more children to play at once.
In order to help shape the play space design that the Landscape Architect at The Royal Parks (TRP) would create, users of the park were asked to take part in an in depth consultation process undertaken by TRP. The results of the consultation concluded that there was a preference for natural materials to ensure the playground was in keeping with its surroundings. The Jupiter Play robinia range was the perfect choice and was used to create a bespoke multi play unit which features in the new park.
A large bespoke climbing unit which met all of the requirements from the consultation and the site itself was created to adhere to the Jungle Walk theme that was sought after. The unit was painted to fit its surroundings and now includes green timber posts alongside the natural coloured robinia. This enhances the Jungle theme. A curved tube slide was also added to the unit with platforms, climbing and balancing features.
Paul Hoenigmann, Managing Director at Jupiter Play commented: ‘The Royal Parks are great heritage and destination sites. The new bespoke multi play unit at Hyde Park is truly unique; it was adapted to suit the surrounding environment in its height and colour. It now sits as the main focal point in the park alongside other play equipment which is extending the play facilities available in London parks.’
