Major multi-tasker offers mowing versatility

It’s not often that a machine comes along capable of doing three different jobs. The MAJOR Offset Swift Mower gives a premium cut and is also designed for verge mowing and hedge trimming. It brings a new definition to operator versatility and fuel savings thanks to its unique design and layout.

Aimed at those working in various areas of vegetation management and across multiple terrains, the three model MAJOR Offset Swift Mower range features an offset, variable angle rotary blade deck which is suitable for managing grass, ditches, verges, embankments, hedges and bushes of all types.

Height control on the MAJOR Offset Swift Mower, which comes in 1.35, 1.98 or 2.6m cutting widths, is via a simple spanner adjustment which sets and locks the cutting height of the machine. As with the company’s successful roller mower ranges, all models also feature front and rear rollers to ensure a level finish. Mowing angle adjustment of the MAJOR Offset Swift Mower is hydraulically controlled from minus 45 degrees to plus 96 degrees, making it ideal for cutting down into ditches and then along accompanying hedge lines, all with one machine.

The MAJOR Offset Swift Mower has a standard 1.56m hydraulic offsetting function, making it is possible to work inline or out to the tractor’s nearside for verges, ditches and banks. By utilising rotary blades, the MAJOR Offset Swift Mower is not only a lower maintenance machine, but will also use over 30 per cent less fuel than an equivalent width flail machine. With a vertical fold transport design, the MAJOR Offset Swift Mower is also easy to move from site to site, safely and quickly.

Standard features include Major’s patented blade system, which prevents damage and breakages to the gearboxes and driveline in the event of an impact by retracting the blades up. Internal double roller bearing housings give added shock protection to the system, ensuring longevity.

The entry level OSM-1400 model features a cutting width of 1.35m (4’6”), and has a 1.4m total deck width. With two rotors and either four or eight blades, this model requires just 40hp. The mid-spec OSM-2000, and is the best seller, cuts to 1.98m (6’5”), and is 2.05m wide, has three rotors with six or 12 blades, plus comes with a power requirement of 60hp.

Topping the range is the OSM-2650 model, with a 2.6m (8’6”) cut width, overall width of 2.65m and a low 80hp power requirement. This machine features four rotors and either 8 or 16 blades.
