A nursery and garden centre recently asked SCH (Supplies) Ltd to design and build three plant and tree watering units. They wanted the units to be used for their newly planted seed beds and young trees.

In order to protect delicate branches and vines that may overhang the area to be watered, the units were designed to be low to the ground rather than upright. They can also be used to apply liquid feed or fertilizer.

The 400 litre capacity units are supplied with a petrol powered pump as well as six meters of three-quarter inch hose with an on/off tap.

The wide profile wheels on this waterer mean that the unit can be used almost anywhere – compaction and wheel marking are drastically reduced.

The tow bar provided for this customer was a 50mm ball hitch, but SCH say that tongue or clevis hitches could be fitted on request.

The customer also has other uses in mind for their unit. One is on standby as an emergency fire extinguisher, and they say during dry summers, the waterers will be used to damp down dusty car parks and pathways around the property.
