Maximising the performance of green roofs
It beggars belief that an organisation could invest thousands of pounds on a system designed to save money on heating, cooling and rainwater management, create wildlife habitat and offer great PR…………and then let it fall into disrepair.
The benefits of a living green roof have been well researched and well documented and as a result, green roofs are becoming mainstream. Sadly though, facilities managers are all too often kept in the dark about on-going maintenance requirements. Extensive green roofs are LOW maintenance, not NO maintenance.
Most of the payback for having a green roof, such as lower heating costs, better rainwater management, a more attractive building and a lower carbon footprint are dependent on there being a good coverage of robust, healthy plants.
At Enviromat, experience has shown us that keeping the plants in good condition on extensive green roof needs a small amount of maintenance just twice a year
Enviromat offers a green roof maintenance service bespoke to the roof and adaptable to suit the client’s budget.
Experienced in the growing and installation of sedum matting and wild flower matting in the UK, Enviromat are well placed to diagnose, treat and indeed prevent, problems with the vegetative layer on green roofs. Our trained staff offer a free assessment and work with facilities managers to ensure that the plants are in the best of health and that the roof is performing as well as it possibly can.
Enviromat experts are also able to restore plant coverage to a dishevelled looking green roof – a service that may cost less than you’d think.
