Giant Vac leaf and debris clearance
STM Co are well known as suppliers of the SCAG grasscutting machinery range, and also have the SCAG Giant-Vac machines on offer.
There is the Consumer Vac, a walk-behind vacuum unit, with a large collection bag, then the blowers, starting with the three types of wheeled version [Classic, Extreme and Extreme Pro], and then moving on to the larger vehicle mounted [TLH20] or the two types of trailed unit, TLW and TLB.
The Consumer Vac: The machine has a 5.5hp Subaru motor driving the impeller unit plus easy to use handlebar controls for the speed and the setting of the adjustment angle of the 650mm intake nozzle. The well-designed collection bag has a 280 litre capacity plus commercial grade zips and a hard plastic abrasion-resistant base.
With its comfortable, ergonomic handles and large diameter wheels, the machine is easy for the operator to use. The conveniently situated speed and nozzle angle controls make it even more of an easy and straightforward to use unit.
The adjustable intake can be positioned from flat, for even surfaces like paths and tarmac, or quickly and easily repositioned at an angle for transferring the operation to leaf and debris collection.
Dimensions are 162cm long, 67cm wide and it weighs 60kg and there is facility for attaching an optional 3m hose kit. The machine is around £1000.
The three units in the wheeled range can best be described by way of their capacity:
Classic: 5.7HP – 1392 cfm
Extreme: 9HP – 2293 cfm
Extreme Pro: 11.7HP – 2824 cfm.
The three machines feature a strongly constructed blower housing, heavy duty solid steel axles, comfortable handgrips, dual direction discharge nozzles [front or side] with additional benefits on the two larger units in the form of increased vibration resistance and remote angle discharge adjustment.
The prices are £666, £1122 and £1486.
Next in the range are the machines where the operator uses a hose to suck up the debris for dispersal through an overhead tube.
First up you go to the truck-mounted units, the TLS20-18BV and the TLS20W-29BV.
These are of equally sturdy construction and have 18 or 29HP engines. The cfm for these are 3075 and 4680 respectively, using a 300mm diameter suction hose.
Now for the wheeled versions – the big ones.
TL20W: 26.5HP or 29HP versions, 4680cfm, 300mm intake hose with boom support.
And, even bigger . . .
TLB25-35BV: 35HP - 6781cfm - 400mm diameter beam supported tube
TLB25-37CH: 37HP – 6909cfm – 400mm dia beam supported tube
TLB25-48KBD: 48HP – 7318 cfm - 400mm dia beam supported tube
