SALTEX Sees Weeds Off With Water!
Following their UK launch in Bristol (Green Capital of Europe) earlier this year, Cardley-Wave’s debut at SALTEX from the 4th and 5th of November at stand J187 is a sure sign that weeds now really are in hot water!
All Cardley-Wave systems combat weeds with 100% hot water at 98°C to get to the root of the problem and as one of Europe's most successful, effective and ecological methods of weed control it seems only natural to premiere at what is still the UK’s premier grounds maintenance event, even after 70 years.
SALTEX is a gathering of all those involved within grounds care, sports, amenities, estates and green space management and for anyone who is engaged with the Environment, sustainability is of paramount importance.
One telling sign of the salience of this issue is the fact that Grandfather Rights in the UK on professional chemical weed sprayers are due to expire just a few days after the SALTEX exhibition closes its doors.
Currently, and increasingly, legislation such as the EU Sustainable Use Directive and Water Framework Agreement outlines the growing obligation to minimise the use of chemicals in public spaces in order to protect human health and the environment.
Cardley-Wave enables organisations to achieve an integrated approach to weed control that doesn’t have to cost the Earth with a range of versatile, manual and machine mounted 100% hot water weed killing systems.
All units allow users to deliver a weed & moss killing strategy that is not only environmentally friendly but also unrivalled in the effectiveness of application as well as in terms of overall cost.

For example, with just one machine and a variety of lances you can deliver an environmentally friendly weed control programme whilst also benefiting from the multi-functional capabilities too; including high pressure drain jetting as well as chewing gum and graffiti removal as well as deep street cleaning to maximise utilisation and fundamentally your return on investment.

You can meet the Cardley-Wave team and see several hot water weed killing machines at stand J185 which is directly opposite from the Parks, Play & People conference area which will be hosting a couple of debates on the key issues within our sector on both days of the exhibition:

The Control of Pests, Weeds & Diseases - challenges, threats & opportunities |
||
|
An invited panel seek to answer questions on all matters relating to weed, pest and disease control. The panel will have no pre-warning of the questions and during the debate of any subject the audience will be invited to contribute - with Professor John Moverley, Amenity Forum (chair); Will Kay, Languard; Dr Ruth Mann, STRI Research Department/Amenity Forum; David Layland, JKC; Chris Gray, IOG Education

Is There a Future for Pesticides? |
||
|
An integrated approach to weed, pest & disease control is best practice, linked to the choice of control pesticides remains a vital and effective component of the mix. The number of actives available for amenity use is lower than in other areas and there are those who would seek to further reduce these, yet the requirement for clean, safe amenity areas and top-class sports surfaces remain. This session seeks to address the issue head on and seek a way forward - with Professor John Moverley, Amenity Forum; Mark De Ath, Headland Amenity |
If you are interested in reducing your dependence on conventional chemical spraying, in adherence with existing legislation as well as best practice guidance, please visit stand J187 during SALTEX.
“Protecting the environment is extremely important to the City Council and this excellent system allows us to get rid of weeds simply by dousing them with hot water. An added advantage is that we can also use it as a quick and efficient way to get rid of unsightly chewing gum and graffiti."
“More and more countries are banning the use of certain types of weedkillers so it makes sense for Aberdeen to stay ahead of the legislation and take the best environmentally-friendly course of action now available to control weed growth.”
Communities, Housing and Infrastructure convener, Aberdeen City Councillor Neil Cooney.
