A-Plant add more Irus remote mowers to the fleet

Supplied through UK distributor Loxston Groundcare, national equipment hire company A-Plant have added a further eight Irus remote controlled mowers to their groundcare equipment fleet.

For A-Plant, Groundcare Business Development Manager David Kendall said “we have had Irus as a part of our specialist slope-mowing offering for some time and have had no issues with them. The build quality is exceptional and the unique tilting engine gives the operative a balanced machine with proven capabilities when cutting at up to 50 degree angles for extended periods. Our latest order was for five Quadrak wheeled mowers and three Deltrak tracked machines.

Peter Loxston said, “Irus are ‘go-anywhere’ machines capable of mowing in places where people can’t. Operated by way of multi-channel radio and designed for mowing and maintenance of vegetation on precipitous slopes, parks, roadside verges and railway embankments, they offer reduced risk of injury to operators”

The new 2.5 version of the Deltrak is the most developed machine currently on the market. A host of improvements include 38hp Kubota engine, self-cleaning radiator, improved track carriage, increased frame strength, improved stepper motors and transmission valves plus transmitter and receiver improvements. All combining to give the user a very low impact, high performance machine.

The IRUS Quatrak model is the most innovative four wheeled remote on the market with 4wd and crab-steer options. The engines are maintained in an upright position by a zero gravity articulating system and both Deltrak and Quatrak can be matched to 105cm and 125cm wide flail heads. They can be started, the cutter engaged and all movements controlled, from a safe distance. The flail head with six rows of three back-to-back flails is capable of dealing with the toughest growth but is also able to do a first-class job on grass. Maximum cut height is 127mm and minimum is 25mm. Full lubrication of all components is maintained even when working under load conditions on steep slopes.

They track at 8km/h and for really steep slopes, studs can be fitted to provide extra grip. The tracks can also be extended outwards for increased stability. All the controls are incorporated on the remote: start; throttle; forward and reverse; lift and lower of the head (top-of-the-range model); cutter engagement and stop. The remote control has a range in excess of 300m and in the event of the mower disappearing out of range, or over the brow of a hill, the engine will cut out. Maintenance is straightforward with sealed hydraulics and easily visible grease nipples and any required track adjustment is a one-spanner operation.

The IRUS Unitrak is a very high performer as a pedestrian operated single axle tractor. It is extremely capable on steep terrain and very easy to operate due to a moving axle pivot to achieve perfect balance and traction on steep slopes. Reduced electronic systems make it a low cost but reliable high performer. The latest addition is the IRUS Twin remotely operated track laying tool carrier. With 48hp Kubota power and only weighing 850 kg, this machine can power flails front and back in unison, giving a very high productivity rate with very low ground impact.

IRUS offer a range of implements to fit their machines, including forestry pulveriser, stump grinders and rotary and scythe mowers .To find out more about the latest innovations from IRUS go to www.irus-mowers.co.uk or contact Loxston Ground care, New Road, Seavington St Mary, Ilminster, Somerset,TA19 0QU Phone: 01460 242562 or visit Web: www.loxston.co.uk
