Grantham Cricket Club in Lincolnshire is one of the most active clubsin the county. Starting the season in early April the numerous teamswill play 118 matches on two squares. This puts a lot of pressure onHead Groundsman Keith Exton to keep the squares and outfields intop condition.
Just at the end of winter Keith found the club tractor needed to bereplaced – and in a hurry!
He contacted local machinery dealer Fentons of Bourne wheredirector Glen Bellamy offered the loan of a Branson 28hp 2900hdemonstration model. Being caught between a rock and a hard placeKeith accepted the offer with some reluctance, but it would enable himto begin the spring work in preparation for the first games.
However, Keith was so impressed with its performance he persuadedthe club to buy it.
To date the 2900h has done everything asked of it including the firstcut of the season pulling a gang of 5 mowers on fairly soft conditionswithout misses or skidding.
Keith said he has been most impressed the way it handles and itsperformance with plenty of power during mowing and scarifying and itwill be used next for the precision application of fertiliser.
Grantham CC are also pleased as the Branson has cost £5,000 lessthan they had expected to pay for a tractor replacement.
