Being prepared for the challenges of winter maintenance
Winter maintenance is a challenging occupation! Good maintenance and equipment is the difference between a successful job and breaking down at 4am in the morning in the middle of a blizzard.
When salt is left in damp conditions it becomes much less free flowing, leading to problems with spreading. The Crossfire from Meyer comes with the option of a tarp kit, which will keep the salt drier when using the spreader. It is prudent to make sure this is used where possible.
When salt is mixed with water it becomes very corrosive. Spreader parts can be extremely susceptible to corroding. The easier the machine is to maintain the lower the potential for downtime during the season. The crossfire has an easy access panel for maintenance and the whole spinner, motor and auger system can be removed with just a few bolts.
The performance features of the spreader are important. Larger motors will be less likely to stall due to blockages. Inverted V’s over the salt delivery system and vibrators will reduce the frequency of blockages in the first place. The Crossfire has a large marine grade ½ HP motor and all these features, making it very reliable.
Precise application of the salt is crucial for some customers, The Crossfire has baffles over the spinner, which control the salt placement, preventing unwanted burning of grass verges and salt being wasted in ditches or gutters.
The Crossfire is able to be stored on its end or taken apart easily for more compact storage, forklift pockets make them easy to move about and put on and off the vehicle.
Meyer provide well thought out spreaders, which provide solutions to all these problems. For more information, visit www.meyerproducts.co.uk or call the office on 0118 9869 253.
