Gaysha specialist surfaces permeable and practical surfacing
The Environment Agency’s call for sustainable drainage systems (SUDS) has had a huge effect on the permeable paving market. One company for which it has had an impact is Gaysha Specialist Surfaces which has recently increased its manufacturing capacity. The company specialises in resin bound permeable surfaces that are SUDS compliant as well as offering an attractive and cost effective alternative to the standard tarmac or block paving.
Any surfacing need can be met from design led landscaping creations to practical highway or infrastructure solutions. Last year the company became the sole manufacturing and installation licensee for the highly regarded Ayton resin surfaces, a May Gurney brand.
“We chose Gaysha because of its proven track record and commitment to achieving results that last” says Richard Collins, General Manager, May Gurney.Gaysha Specialist Surfaces has absolute control over quality as it undertakes the entire process from formulation and manufacture through to installation. The two stars of its portfolio are Clearmac® permeable resin bound paving and Tripave® slip resistant waterproof surface. The effects of Clearmac® can be seen at The London Eye where it continues to look attractive after nine years and over 30 million visitors. The appeal of this permeable solution is that colour, shapes and different types of aggregate can be introduced. Gaysha used this approach at a Norfolk school for children with learning disabilities where the criteria was to create an inspirational educational space.
The second weapon in Gaysha’s armoury, Tripave®, comes into its own where safety is of paramount importance. The company recently resurfaced the platforms at Stratford Railway Station in preparation for the daily influx of 120,000 passengers expected during the 2012 Olympic Games. According to Network Rail the anti-slip surface exceeded the standard specification and a key driver in the decision was its fire safety properties which allow it to withstand intense fire conditions.
