GreenMech launches new wood chipper range

GreenMech, the Queen’s Award-winning manufacturer of wood chippers and green waste shredders has launched its new Arborist range.

The Midlands-based creator of professional chippers used this year’s IOG SALTEX and APF 2012 to introduce a new series of 150mm (6inch) machines that have been designed to meet the tough demands of today’s arborist, groundscare and landscaping expert.

This new generation of chippers consists of a family of two road-tows and one tracked unit that have been developed in response to industry demands. A product of close customer collaboration, the Arborist range has been specifically manufactured to efficiently process waste brash, as an increase in the market for firewood has meant that contractors are generally keeping useable wood for log production.

Using a remit that includes durability, performance and ease of maintenance, the new series ticks all the boxes and comes at a price that gives value for money. Each model is built with the high quality engineering standard that GreenMech is renowned for and includes technical innovations exclusive to the brand.

The simple to use and cost-effective models all come in a traditional in-line format with a wide letterbox-style throat of 150mm x 230mm that allows bulky and heavily forked branches to feed in easily.

Vertical hydraulic rollers efficiently crush the material with minimal lateral movement and the electronically controlled ‘No-Stress’ feed system reverses the feed rollers to relieve the chipper blades, allowing rotor speed to recover quickly, effectively increasing output.

The engine, which is protected by insulated steel panels offering strength and noise level reduction, can easily be removed for routine care. The control box is situated in safe and convenient place on top of the in-feed chute, centralising the operation of the machine.

The individual units are:
Arborist 130 is below 750kg in weight and comes with a 23hp Briggs & Stratton petrol engine or 20hp Kubota diesel engine.

Arborist 150 is below 750kg and comes with a choice of either a 26hp or 34hp Kubota diesel engine.

ArbTrak 150 comes with a 34hp Kubota diesel and designed to complement the existing SafeTrak 16-23 and QuadTrak 160 tracked options.

GreenMech’s Sales Director Martin Lucas said:
“The new Arborist series has been designed to streamline our current product range and includes some of the popular features that were introduced on the ground-breaking QuadChip and QuadTrak machines.

All models use common components, such as a high tensile steel chassis, chipper chamber, in-feed and discharge chutes, along with a fly wheel that will accept either straight blades or Disc Blade options. The machines also meet current HSE guidelines to reduce operating noise levels, making them some of the quietest chippers on the market.

We are very confident that these new machines will appeal to a broad section of the groundscare industry including landscapers, estate maintenance contractors and the hire market. ”

GreenMech, which was established in 1993, won a Queen’s Award for enterprise in 2005 for its international trade and a second in 2009 for innovation. It currently employs 60 people from its 20,000 sq ft premises in Warwickshire and operates a substantial world-wide sales and support service through appointed dealerships across the globe.

Managing Director Jonathan Turner commented:
“We are extremely pleased with the enthusiastic response from the industry to our new range and the level of sales enquiries generated during both shows. GreenMech is proud to continue its tradition of innovative engineering and the new Arborist range is a testament to this pioneering spirit and the dedication of our British workforce.”
